In When the Duke Returns, Isidore and Simeon visit the studio of a brilliant lingerie designer, Signora Angelico. The studio is an accurate description of the workshop of one of my husband’s relatives in Florence, Italy. She creates one-of-a-kind utterly delicious lingerie for princesses (literally!). I took the description of Isidore’s nightgown, made of silk that “looked as if it had been woven by fairies,” and “falling to the ground with a froth at the feet and a small train” from his advertisement. I have no idea what Boodles sells (this image is from a Boodles ad), but if you ever go to London and Bond Street, please let me know!
